Rapinoe's first FIFA Women's World Cup was back in 2011. She helped lead in the U.S. Women's World Cup team to consecutive victories in 2015. She was named cocaptain in 2018. In the 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo Japan was delayed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Rapinoe scored two goals in the bronze medal game when the United States defeated Australia by the total of 4-3.
